Career Counseling Connecticut was started with a distinct mission: help people find work that makes them feel happy and successful.

I started the company prior to The Great Recession of 2008. During the relatively good economic times, I saw that many of my young clients from The Learning Consultants, the parent company of Career Counseling Connecticut, having matriculated to or graduated from college, were suffering as they tried to figure out what they wanted to do when they grew up.  Back then, I thought it odd that parents had invested enormous sums of money into their children’s education, including tutoring from The Learning Consultants, but had invested nothing or next to nothing in helping their children figure out what they were going to do with their education.

I understood the reason:  Through the 80s/90s/00s, parents mistakenly conflated the decision to invest in their children’s education as an investment in their career path because back when jobs were aplenty, it seemed that most everyone “figured it out” and was gainfully employed post college.  This is no longer the case.  The world has radically changed and other than those in specialized fields where the major is essentially the same as job (i.e. accounting or nursing), most every college student and young post college graduate has no idea what they want to do. We now know the truth: college – while vital in helping prepare young adults for work and credential them for many jobs – does not provide effective career exploration for most and certainly does not help young adults get jobs. We can help.
