I know…. I may have just asked a rhetorical question that in this case means “no” for you.

But that’s not the case for some.

Yes, of course, most everyone would prefer vacation to work, even enjoyable work.

Yet, for some, the start of the week after a prolonged vacation is welcomed or at least pretty good or at least not horrible as it is for those who should consider switching jobs or career paths.

I understand both feelings.

The New Year brings reflection and I vividly recall various times in my initial career as an attorney when going back to work was equivalent – as one of my law firm partners put it – “going back to the salt mines.”

If that’s the case for you, then consider that the dominant lesson of the pandemic for many was that life is too short… or that time is too valuable… to waste disliking a big chunk of your life.

On this point, I have watched with some dismay at the Quiet Quitting movement.   If you are a job where you feel that you are being taken advantage of – which is the initial premise of Quiet Quitting – then you have to leave. There is is no sense in staying at an organization that you think is malevolent.   Or if you feel that you are just “not into your job” and thus want to sleep walk through 8 hours each week day before you can live, then you have to leave because why would you want your life to be that way more than needed?

We can help.
