“I am just too overwhelmed.” Kendra, a twentysomething from West Hartford, Connecticut, noted as she described her simultaneous desire to leave her job and her inability to do so.

Small changes are tough.

Big changes are paralyzing.

Career change is huge.

When Career Counseling Connecticut’s clients work with us, they almost always say: “I should have come here earlier.”

They already knew they wanted to change their career.  They did not know how.   Or maybe they could have figured out how but the career change process seemed too overwhelming. Contacting a career counselor was the first step.  Many noted that this seemingly simple “to do” was not easy.

The Learning Consultants is my larger company which focuses on educational and counseling needs more broadly than Career Counseling Connecticut.  New clients usually act quite decisively.  They know what they want.  They usually know of our reputation from their trusted sources and, even if they do not, will talk with us for a few minutes and then usually schedule a first appointment.

With Career Counseling Connecticut, paralysis from new clients prevents moving forward.  “I read your blog” or “I read your books” or “My friend told me about you….” should lead to decisive action.  But most new clients feel stuck.  They know they should move forward but worry about the distant future.

Our work involves helping clients identify the vision and then helping them take the first steps toward the vision.

Once the first domino falls, the rest fall more easily.
