I started learning everything I could about “the New World of Work” about 15 years ago. I saw work changing rapidly. So I read/thought/wrote about what I saw from Career Counseling Connecticut’s clients and what researchers/experts were saying.
This New World of Work – while coming about gradually -is now the Current World of Work and has been for a few years. As an example, when I started career counseling, many young adults – trained by their parents’ experiences – expected to find one distinct career track, often with one company – at least for a long time -, and thought that lay offs and other job disruptions were outlying events, as opposed to everyday occurrences.
I would discuss continual learning/free-lancing/gig work (what became “side hustles”) to perplexed parents. I would tell them – pre-Covid – that remote work will be significant soon.
Now… I am immersed in what will be the next version of the New World of Work.
AI is here but coming in a far bigger way. Is this horrible? For some.
For others, it is a giant opportunity.
Continual “career navigation” is here but coming in a far bigger way.
And same.
What I call “entrepreneurial skill” (which includes but is far from limited to entrepreneurship)… same.
Career Counseling Connecticut will help you and your children navigate the wildly uncertain career world that is… almost here.
