“This was the best gift I’ve ever received.” Lacey, an early twenty something from Fairfield, Connecticut noted.

Lacey graduated UCONN in 2018.  She was a psychology major.  But she had no real interest in pursuing careers as a therapist.  I like people.  Psychology was interesting.  She did not have a job when she graduated and then eventually took what amounted to a customer service position for a rental car company.  “They called it something fancy related to management trainee.  But basically, I answered phones, reserved cars for customers, and did the paperwork to give them the car when they arrived.”.  Covid hit and the rental car business crumbled.  She lost her job.

“I was always pretty happy.  But after 6 months of not working, I was getting really anxious and becoming depressed.”

Mental health related to both joblessness and mismatched jobs is a serious issue.

Lacey’s parents gave her a birthday gift: a session with Career Counseling Connecticut.

Lacey was lacking a vision of what she wanted to do.  After going through a series of our personality profiling tests, career narrative, and interactive advisory session, she found direction.  (Human Resources in business).  Of equal importance, she felt hopeful and her entire well-being changed due to that hope.

If you know someone struggling with either joblessness or a mismatched job, career counseling might be the best gift you can give them.
