“Will you give 10% off or something if I purchase your services as a college graduation gift?”
A grandmother of a UCONN graduating senior asked a couple of weeks ago.
Normally…. no. But for grandmothers…. my heart strings.
So… “sure” I responded.
I’ve never offered a discount before. It seems to an unprofessional and sales-like tactic. I avoid both.
But Career Counseling Connecticut is a mission driven business. Fortunately, my larger business – The Learning Consultants pays the bills.
I have the good fortune of now being able to be more generous.
I do have the view of “fairness”. If I provide one client a “deal”, I feel compelled to offer the same to others.
