Career counseling Connecticut
I am the help button 🙂

“Jerry” was miserable in his job and career path. But, he felt stuck.  He was 32. Young, from my vantage point, but old, from his view, to switch careers.

Having graduated from college mostly clueless about what he really wanted to do, he wound up working in a small business in Stamford, CT.  After a couple of years, he knew he didn’t want to work in the business for much longer.  He thought he might want to switch into a larger company in the industry.  He half-heartedly applied to a couple of companies but then did not further pursue with any real vigor.

For ten years, he had “thought” of leaving.  He had discussed leaving with his friends, his parents, and his girlfriend (now wife).  She was the one who contacted us. She wanted to have children, as did Jerry, but he wanted to feel settled in his career.  Since he hated his work, he didn’t feel settled at all.

Jerry and I met.  We had one of those magical career vision meetings.  He had a vision.  One month later, he had a strategy that he was executing to make the vision a reality.  And two months later he had a job in a field that he loves to this day (we met 5 years ago).

Jerry and his wife have stayed in touch, forever grateful.  But as I noted, Jerry knew he wanted to leave and although I pulled out what he really wanted, he also had his career vision in him.  Our interaction created the action.
