I just celebrated my 30th wedding anniversary.  Francie, my wonderful wife, has a full time job as a professor and head of the doctoral program at Southern CT’s Nursing School.  Great job. But… she missed being a nurse.  So she went back “per diem” as a lactation consultant, where she gets to hold babies, at Hartford Hospital where she had worked part time a half decade ago.

Given that she has a demanding full time job, many have wondered why she would do so.  (I should add, fortunately, not because of the money).

She derives meaning from her work. She helps new mothers.

She’s good at her work.  She demonstrates mastery.

She enjoys doing the work and the people she works with.  She simply has a good time, at least from a work perspective.

Career Counseling Connecticut was originally focused on twentysomethings and young adults transitioning into the career world.

We then realized -due to demand – how many people in their 30s and 40s were similarly unhappy due to mismatched careers.

Of late, we have a surprising number of those in their 50s as career counseling clients.

Our mission expanded.  Happy to help you with your career transitions at any age.
