It’s November and I don’t have a job….
That’s what my recent e-mails read from about a dozen 2024 college graduates.
Some have “jobs” but as baristas, customer service at a family friend’s business, or some other random job that makes them feel underemployed.
As a recent college graduate, transitioning into the professional world can be daunting. At Career Counseling Connecticut, we understand the challenges and excitement that come with this new chapter. Our team has helped numerous graduates kickstart their careers, and we’re excited to share a success story that highlights our effective approach.
Meet “Emily”
Emily, a bright and ambitious marketing major, graduated with honors but struggled to find her footing in the competitive job market. Despite solid education and internship experience, she sent out “hundreds” of applications. (She said – I don’t know for sure!). But she had less than 10 responses and half of those were from internal recruiters who disappeared after initial contact. Her 3 interviews included HR/recruiting types who seemed to just want to have someone to pass on to their bosses.
What was Emily doing?
The same thing that so many do: (1)find jobs on Indeed or Linkedin (2) fill in applications (3) submit a resume and then wait…
The Coaching Breakthrough plus Our tactical approach
We worked closely with Emily to show how our tailored tactical approach – which is not rocket science but does apply concepts that new grads usually don’t apply – led to 7 interviews, 3 callbacks and 1 job offer within two months
Did we tell her anything original? Not in my mind. Given the plethora of information on the web, I can’t think of too many pieces of information or data that can’t be uncovered.
But we are really good at coaching clients which entails showing how to apply the tactical approach which we provide.
This seemed to make all the difference for Emily and countless clients who come to Career Counseling Connecticut.
